Premise

You play as a newcomer to Itum, a nation that was cut off from the outside world.

For centuries, Itum was sealed behind a powerful barrier, technology that other nations could only dream of. A mix of technology and something magical and unknown.

Now, for reasons not yet fully understood, the border has been opened. Outsiders like you are being welcomed into the nation for the first time in hundreds of years.

Setting

Itum has access to a resource that no one else in the world has - essence. A transformative, magical energy that can reshape someone's body, bind with technology, and provide untold enhancements.

Using essence, citizens can alter their forms, change their species, experiment with new appearances and looks. Officially, this process is stabilized through crafted imprints, forged by skilled specialists.

Raw essence is dangerous; it can lead to Imprint Drift, where the body changes unpredictably, as if the essence has a mind of its own. This can lead to an Imprint Break, where instincts overwhelm the mind and revert to primal behaviours.

Itum is a nation trying to discover itself. They wield advanced magitech; citizens are implanted with an identification chip, tracking their form and every change they undergo. The outside world sees this power as a threat, making it a one-way trip if you enter Itum, not allowed to return.

The Player’s Role

You arrive with very little, at the reopened border, ready to cross into Twigleaf, a small town in the province of Teakwood.

Along your journey you may:
- Explore towns and the wilds around Itum and it's various provinces.
- Meet locals, discover their secrets, stories, and more.
- Build new relationships, from friendly to intimate.
- Uncover the history of why Itum was sealed, and why they've changed and allowed entry after all these years.
- Discover your own identity and what truly makes you "you".
