Imprint Drift

Imprint Drift occurs when an imprint begins to lose cohesion, causing uncontrolled transformations beyond the user's intent.

Common causes include:

• Using unauthorized or unregistered imprints
• Imprints with flaws or imperfections
• Prolonged exposure to corrupted essence
• Being caught unsheltered during an essence storm

Drift typically manifests gradually (small changes, such as hair growing unexpectedly, fur or eye colours changing, etc.), but with enough exposure this can suddenly alter someone in unexpected ways, leaving their form a mixture of different species and colours.

If left unchecked, it destabilizes the body and mind.

To restabilize, a citizen must seek out an Attuner. If untreated, drift often progresses into Imprint Break.
